I am excited to begin my 31st year of teaching. My first twenty years were spent at the sixth grade level at Glenwood and Oak Hill Middle Schools.
I then made the transition to English as a Second Language. As an ESL itinerant teacher, I split my time between Delaware, Oak Hill, Scott, and Vogel Elementary Schools. I love working with my English Language Learners; each one is unique and special. I begin with each student by starting with what is known and moving to the unknown. This could involve starting with simple information such as people’s names, colors, numbers, letters and sounds of the alphabet and then progressing to more complex information. Learning is reinforced, using lots of repetition in a supportive class environment. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 1986, and my Master’s Degree from Indiana State University in 1989. My husband, Dan, and I have been married for 32 years. We have one son, Kyle, who is a physical therapist in Navarre Beach, Florida. I enjoy collecting antiques, experiencing new cultures, reading, hanging out at the beach, and traveling the world with my family and friends. |
